MUSHROOM THORAN

MUSHROOM THORAN

Few weeks before I was watching TV. I was feeling bored and was thinking what to do. My baby was sleeping and I wanted to do something that was something interesting. Then i saw this recipe for mushroom thoran. It was something different which no one makes in day to day life and you wont believe it. Its so easy!!! ( except for the fact of removing the skin of small onions). But its all worth it... My brother-in law who is a north malayalee dont like mushrooms. he tasted and said "Wow bhabhi, this actually tastes good and dont taste like mushroom at all" :)..So I guess you can cook this confidently.he he he ;)..Try it out let me know.

Ingredients :
Mushroom - 250 gm ( cut in long pieces)
Small onions - 15nos sliced (the more the tastier. So 10-15 nos would be fine)
Green Chillie - 3 nos cut in round
Coconut grated - 1 cup
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Red Chillie - 2 nos ( vattalmullaku)
Curry leaves - around 5-6 leaves
Mustard seeds - 3/4 tsp
Salt
Oil

Prepartion:
Boil the mushroom in water with little of turmeric powder and salt to taste. Once boiled drain the mushrooms and keep aside.

Meanwhile in a plate or bowl, put in the coconut. the turmeric powder, small onions, curry leaves and a bit salt (as u have already added for mushroom). Rub all of them with your hand nicely.

Take a pan and heat. Once hot, put in around 1 tbsp of oil and add mustard seeds. Thena add in red chillie( vattal mullaku - tear it into two). Once spluttered, add in the coconut mixture and mushroom. Saute for around 1-2 minutes in medium flame. Once done and serve hot with rice :)

Cheers
