This recipe is from my dearest chechi Veena :)..Its her mom's recipe. Her cooking recipes are just as sweet as she is. My Kadala curry never used to come perfect. When i tried this it was a huge hit in my home and everyone just keeps finger licking. I would like to share this with u all so that you all can try and be a star at ur own home ;)...
Ingredients:
Black Chana - 1 1/2 cup
Onion - 1 no chopped
Tomato - 1 med chopped
Curry Leaves - 5-6 nos
Salt
For Grinding :
Coconut - 1/2 coconut
Green Chilli - 2 nos slit
Curry Leaves - 4 nos
Fennel Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Chiili Powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander Powder- 1 1/2 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Garlic - 2 nos chopped
Soak the chana over night or minimum of 8-10 hours
In a pan add oil, then add in onions, tomato and curry leaves till onions turn transparent and soft. Add this mix in a pressure cooker together with chana, salt and add water till top of chana and pressure cook till chana is done. I did for 6 whistles. Let the cooker cool down.
Meanwhile, in another pan add a bit oil and add in the the ingredients for grinding. Saute till u reach the consistency as shown in the pic almost like golden yellowish color. Grind the mix once cooled down.
Then open the cooker and keep on gas again. Once it startes boiling add in the grinded mix to this and saute. Add water if u need more gravy and saute till u reach a darker color as shown in pic. Serve with Appam or Puttu.
Cheers,
Neetz ;)
